Exclusive: QPR defender to join Eagles Friday, 05 August 2011 By Richard Cawley CRYSTAL Palace will sign QPR defender Peter Ramage and Leicester centre-half Aleksandar Tunchev on loan today. The pair will both initially sign deals taking them to Selhurst Park for a month. Former Newcastle defender Ramage has 12 years at the Toon before joining QPR in 2008. Bulgarian Tunchev joined the Foxes in a £375,000 deal from CSKA Sofia in 2008. Don't miss today's South London Press for all the Palace news + a 12-page football pullout.
This annoys me. Personally I think he's one of our best centre halfs and with some match practice could be as good as anyone in our team. Plus he has prem experience which is something we very much lack.
Yea agree Kerry, it's actually a great move for him, match fitness, match action and hopefully match sharpness
Hopefully it is just so he can get some game time, He got a squad number unlike cook, Rowlands,German, Clarke etc which makes me think its purely just to get some game time (and neil helping out an old club)
Um... er... did I miss something? This is Damage we're talking about. Seems like a nice bloke but some of his performances would give Zesh Rehman a run for his money in the dodgy defending stakes.
@peterramage83 Peter Ramage En route to peterborough with Palace after joinin for a month. Get some games in, looking forward to the challenge.
Aaaaaaaaarrghhhh is right, he's not called 'Damage' by the faithful for no reason! His first season with us was a complete disaster. That said he's a top bloke, always first to applaud the fans and a real passionate player. If he had as much skill as passion & commitment he would be at Barca.... Good luck at Paralysis get some games in and come back fit and ready to cover the starting defence.
So I've just seen. I really should check all the posts before opening my fat mouth! Are we going to be short of centre backs all of a sudden?
I think too be fair to Peter Ramage, he was nicknamed Damage when played in the full back position, when he was initially signed he was a centre back, and it is still is his preferred position. A month on loan after missing nearly all of last season will help him get his fitness back. NW wouldn't haven't given him a years contract if he didn't think that there was something worth looking at in terms of what he could offer the team
Yes! I'd like him to be given a chance to show what he can do at CB when fully fit. If I recall correctly, he did have some limited time in that position for us and looked promising. But he's no FB: not PL, not even Championship.
PLayed RB for Palace today and has been roundly slated. obviously he wont be perfect after such a long lay off but bit annoying that his match practice is out of position for us.
