For this week's Inside Line on Oldham I've interviewed ex-City player Lee Johnson, now manager at the Latics.

In this exclusive interview he revealed a little about his time at Ashton Gate and how he dealt with the stick he got whilst here, as well as talking extensively of his love for the club and how he would love to return as manager. He also explains how his first year in management has gone, how Gary helps him out and the small part Steve Lansdown played in his Oldham job interview.

Junior had a great footballing brain, it was the one (only) attribute he had.

I think he has every chance to become a decent manager.

Would I welcome him back ? Yes, if his track record deserves the position.

I like him as a person, but can't say I was overly impressed with his football abilities..

Good luck to him as a manager, he has lived and breathed football in his family since he was old enough to walk. I reckon he could be ok.

He was a decent player up till when we got to the play off final, then just got too old really and didn't improve his game. Seems a good, young manager at the moment, be interesting to have him after managing another team possibly.

Aged 27 <laugh> Should have been in his prime.

    FFS he was always useless.

I liked him as a player, yes he had faults if he didn't he wouldn't be playing for us now would he?? We have had a sheeite load who are worse since!! He seems very level headed and he really could well be a good manger, and I for one wish him all the best.

More than happy to compare qualifications if you really want to go down that route!!

My point was that you actually made a positive comment about him.

Question - have we really ever replaced him in the middle of midfield?

Bristol City has become a managers graveyard.. the players are the flowers that were put there to commemorate the going of the old manager, and like all flowers die off within weeks...........

Lee Johnson was one of our better players, and the second he left the team was far too inconsistent to perform at Championship level. Say what you want about him, but that's a fact.

He was a classic Watercarrier. Couldnt tackle, rarely had a shot, could pass but usually sideways, unsurprisingly non-existent in the air, no physical presence at all. Biggest asset was he would run all day to pick up loose balls and give them to someone close to him so they could do something with it.

As a manager he has a vision of how to play the game, is likeable and believable to the players, and very intelligent. A far better proposition as a manager, and he has the added bonus of having been managed himself by Arsene Wenger
So would probably make a great manager, much like that other great watercarrier, Didier Dechamps.

Question is.....does he own his own hair dryer ?
