I've been trying to keep an eye on our youngsters at the club and all the signs seem to suggest we actually have a few top, top class youth comming through. For those who think Wilshere was a one off we have some gems who will bee looking to break into the first team squad over the next couple of seasons. Bellerin and Toral from Barcelona have been getting rave reviews for there passing and technical ability. This is no surprise comming from Barcelona and i wouldn't be suprised to see one if not both make it at Arsenal. We also have Olsson and Gnabry who, along with the two above, are being touted to make the step up to regular reserve football and occasional first team appearances (League Cup etc...). Gnabry being only 16 shows he is a special talent. These 4 could really do something special over the next few years - can't wait to see how they do. I think our current crop of youngsters outshines our previous lot already (bendtner etc). I'm really hoping in pre-season and the League Cup we get to see some of these guys showing us what they have. And then on the fringe of the current first team we have players like Miquel, Campbell, Miyaichi all looking to try and break through into the first team squad. (Not forgetting Wellington and Galindo out on loan!). Wilshere was the beginning but we have a lot to look forward to from our youth policy. Those who think it has failed have judged too quickly. It is clear Wenger now sees he needs players who are ready right now, but i am glad the time and effort has been put into really getting a solid youth setup. We will develop some stars in the near future! Who are you most looking forward to seeing play for us? Who do you think will make the grade and who won't? Who will be the first to break through and will it be this season?
Gnabry and Olsson are the two that excite me the most. Though further down the pecking order we have Chuba akpom and jack jebb. Both are English youth internationals and jebb in particular looks very exciting whilst Chuba has a very unique style and full of tricks. That group also contains Brandon ormonde otewill who trained with the first team once despite being a school boy (left back). There is also Jordan brown who was called up to the England u16s at the age of 14. Plenty to look forward to but I wonder how many will be given the chance.
