Thread after thread about some player, most have nee idea about. Random **** of ****book and twatter, Players of a less than the high calibre expected... When is the player pr players coming, that we expect, or even heard of, not all these, cornetto names? All the other clubs are making waves and movements, we have so far the power of johnny farttpants.
If you have never heard of these players, how do you know they are no good? They may turn out to be world beaters. I would love to see us signing some well known names but I think we are going about this the right way, young, keen to impress players and from the limited info I've heard about them, they sound alright to me. We have hardly spent a penny so far, Paolo may yet Suprise us with a big marque signing!!
Things could be a lot worse though, look at the mags, they ain't signed anybody and looking to get Bent through the door. I'm sceptical, we are bringing in a lot of young unknown players and have lost Mig and its looking like Sess as well. Still a long way to go but can't see us spending that much and if a good chunk of it is going on Altidore, then I expect another long season.
How do people know these players aren't of a high calibre? What calibre were we expecting? Facebook and twitter seem to have called a few of our signings prior to us knowing anything about them up until now. I wouldn't write it off. We've either not heard of them or we know they're not good enough. One or the other but some people seem to be decided that it's both. We are signing players that PDC, De Fanti and Angeloni want. Why is that a problem? Cornetto names? What we've signed one Italian player so they're all Cornetto names. None of us know what power we currently have because we know less than the scouting and recruitment team.
But Disco, here's a few headline i pulled in a few seconds, look and think West Ham and Swansea are battling it out for the signature of Vitesse Arnhem's Wilfried Bony, 24, after the Londoners matched the Welsh club's £10.2m bid for the striker. Cardiff City are poised to make an £11m offer to Celtic for Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama, 21.
I know nothing about Bony so I'd prefer us to sign someone cheaper who I also know nothing about. We're supposedly signing the heir to Javier Zanetti, Argentina's first choice right back. There's a headline. Wanyama is a very good player with champions league experience but they're paying 8 figures for a chap who's come from a weaker than ever before Scottish league. We signed a lad in Cabral with champions league experience who bossed United this year from an inferior league. We got him for free. There's another decent headline. Is it a problem that we're being cautious and not over spending? Does that make the players we're signing any worse?
It was in the group stages and it was last year not this year sorry. And yes... They did by taking four points off them!
I have literally no opinion of him mate he could be ****e, he could be mega. I'm just not going to worry about us not over spending when we now have a fantastic recruitment network in place.
Quite suprised at your downbeat outlook here like comm, allow it to take shape marra, it might look dull coz we know little about most of them, so ****, sit back relax enjoy the ride watching the masterplan all come together! I'm excited as fook me btw, loving it, its all positive, sod what anybody else is doing its all about us
It's early in the window & the bigger signings tend to take longer. There will be a lot if signings this year & we can't pay top dollar for them all given the small squad we have.
Up until a few months ago I'd never heard of Bony. Wanyama has still alot to prove having played most his career in Jockland. Diakite, Roberge and Cabal all have Champions league/ Europa league experience. To get them for nowt is a brilliant bit of business. As for the other lads we're linked with, that was the whole point in bringing De Fanti on board. I have every bit of faith in our new scouting setup. I think this is the most exciting pre season I've ever known.
seems as though were at last evolving and the future for safc is looking very bright, once the system has bedded in with players being moved about either playing or out on loan, we at last planning for advancement in the football world. Results will be important , but i think in the long run not imperitive, but the system is.
This window has only just opened and to be fair we need a fair few players. Our squad was paper thin and we have lost players from that. Im sure we will have a decent squad come the start of the season. We will also have some talented young guys who could break through as well. I belive in our new scouting department and thinks its really good that the club is trying to eclvolve and become sustainable. We have to give it a chance and get behind the project. I belive short has the clubs and our best interests at heart. We have to get behind the club like we always have, lets face it weve had a **** couple of decades so it could be worse
I'll wait until 10 games in to see whether or not these players are up to the job or not. Right now I'm neither excited or bored................ just very interested I guess in how this all turns out?
It's a waiting game that's for sure, however, you could look at the squad size at this moment in time and speculate with a little more accurately by predicting the possible number of players leaving this window, ie, So far we have released, Ming, Bramble, Killa, Rose and Elmo,(if my memory serves me right.) The likes of, Bardo, Graham and Ji are probably soon follow. We also have other players unsure of their Sunderland futures too. For example, I would guess that, Catts, Vaughan, Gardner, Mac and Wickham will be biting their nails in anticipation after seeing the first wave of new personnel appearing at the training ground today. So if they are also released, that adds up to a possible shortfall of 13 first team squad players. And let's not forget that our first team squad was threadbare at the end of last season, meaning, without including the kids we've just acquired on Bosman's, we could still possibly be looking for over another 7 first team squad players. Jeeze !
