Pretty poor effort, I'd rather a team full of French internationals than players who lead Birmingham to the Championship. Neil Taylor would have been a reserve LB, no one cares.

 

French internationals = unproven.
Signing from Asia & the Championship = much more unproven.
The 'proven players' you do have have proven to be average at best.

And your signings are so good.... You have 2 old players and one of them got injured in your friendly, the other has no real qualities. Gardner is good but not really a player that you would get excited by, Wickham is apperently a talent but did he not score about 9 goals in 40 odd games? Vaughan is average and you have a goalkeeper which you may not use. Who else? Oh a Korean who I have never heard of.

Please don't make promises you have no control on. Cayabe and Ben Arfa seemed to be promising from what I heard from Friday night.

 

Oh so your getting all jumped up about a bloke that has 4 caps for france and that's only because all of there first team were sacked! And you talk about signing championship players, well did you not sign demba ba and abeld who was relegated with lens last year! Opps!

 

Ba scored 7 in 12, was signed by them in January, whereas Gardner and Larsson were key players in the side who got relegated, there's a difference.

And Abeid is a youth player, didnt have any effect on the first team being relegated.

 

Abeid did not play for Lens we signed him up based on potential and it's unlikely he will be used. I also seem to remember your lot wanting Ba aswell, think he decided to join a better club with better ambition

 

Actually, it was YOUR point in saying that your new recruits are "proven" in the premiership, and I think most of us on here would agree, just because they've played in England, doesn't make them better, usually just makes them more expensive. Abeid isn't intended for the first-team either, so that point is moot as well.
We're getting "jumped up about a bloke" because we don't live under a football rock and watched him play for L1 winning LOSC and have seen how he exceeds the playmaking quality of everyone in your midfield.

Here's a hypothetical situation;

By this stage of the season, Sunderland have signed Cabaye, Marveaux and Ba and Newcastle have Larsson, Gardner, Wickham, Dong, Westwood, Brown and O'Shea.

Is it just me that thinks Sunderland fans would be going on about how **** and unproven Wickham is and how we paid way over the odds and Newcastle fans would be laughing at Sunderland for buying a couple of relatively unknown Frenchmen and a bloke with glass kness?

 

I dont think so, we discussed Brown for example months ago and all thought he was ****, this was before he was linked to Sunderland. Ba on the other hand we have wanted the club to sign for ages.

Valid question, but for me personally, I like the french, and feel their league (as well as Germany -- Ba) produces a lot of quality players, and I tend to live by the philosophy that nothing good comes out of Birmingham. So no, I'd prefer our additions.
