Another excellent result against a top side and even better, a point away. Sounds like we played quite well and it was good to here TP in his interview state that he felt with a little more composure on the ball we could have got a win! Nice positve statement and as a fan, I am chuffed that he has openly stated that we need to hold onto the ball more! On a seperate note, didn't like the Woody at RB and listening to the commentry on BBC Stoke sounds like he was lucky not to get sent off - again? Like Huth, he is too slow against the pace of the wingers in this league and I thought his interviewed summed it up "we felt that Wilko was a better option than Matty (Upson)". I agree with this as Wilko is a RB and Upson is a CB, but so is Woody! I cant fault Woody, or Huth when he was played out there - but its a reciepe for disaster in the long run - IMO. Anyway great result, fantastic run of form and hats off to TP - all seems good - I actually feel better than ever as a Stoke fan compared to early season when I was verty worried. Great work lads, keep up the form and hopefully TP will tie up those few loose ends. Happy Days!
Watched the game on a decent stream and we were awesome at the back. Woody always worried me though has he can be a bit rash but he kept them out so fair play to him today. At half time it was one shot on target each and we kept them shooting from distance as they couldn't get anywhere near the goal. Carroll was sent on in the second half for Downing (which I think was a mistake), and he did his best to cheat his way to a penalty. Our big lads stood firm and to be honest i think if Ric had come on earlier we may have even got a goal. Crouch was out on his own with no support at all and offered nothing today but again that was not his fault. Whelan's passing was woeful but again he played his role in getting us an excellent point. Liverpool seriously lacked firepower but always looked like they could nick a goal at anytime. the last 10 minutes were unbearable to watch as i just thought they were going to score and to be honest it would have been unfair on us had they done so. Take a bow on your 400th TP and also the lads on their resolute performance!
Thanks again for that link video for my pc waddo. Can't argue with any of that and Smither's Woody was fortunate IMO not to walk but I've just seen far worse tackles on MOTD go unpunished. Like you, I'm far happier than I was when we we're stuck on 12pts.. seem's ages ago now. But, I give T.P. loads of credit and our lads didn't relent.. just bad passing put more pressure on Huth,Ryan and Co which, should not be the case. Like Tony said.. IF we could keep the ball better... I hope he's finally realising/seeing the obvious. Now on 30pts and it's looking better all the time. Let's hope we follow that up with 3pts v the Baggies next weekend.
