I really do hope we can hang on two these two,add the three or four quality players we need a give it a good go next season. City manager insists City under no pressure to lose best players. Steve Cotterill has paid tribute to his 47-goal strike force, but insists he will not be in a situation where he has to sell his best players this summer. With clubs already making movement in the transfer window, the City manager is unsure whether his players will be subject to any bids. However, Cotterill says the club are not in a position where they will have to accept offers â even if his deadly front two attract big money interest.âI donât know and I donât care, to be honest,â he told BBC Radio Bristol. âIâm very much at ease with all of that because we havenât got to sell anyone.âUntil that moment comes (incoming bids), Iâm not going to let that side of the job stress me out because I might not have to.âOne man who could become subject to speculation is Sam Baldock, who enjoyed the most productive season of his career. The City skipper fired 26 goals in all competitions and finished the campaign as the third tierâs top scorer with 24 league strikes.âHe was certainly an asset in the latter part of the season, but he probably wasnât that much of an asset in the first 19 games,â Cotterill added.âI think the change in how we play has suited Sam, but itâs not just about him. When you look at it, itâs probably suited a lot of players, and those it hasnât suited probably havenât got in the team on a frequent basis. But thatâs what footballâs about.âHeâs probably benefited from missing a few chances early on against MK Dons and me telling him I wasnât taking him off, which helped his confidence grow. Wherever Iâve played him â even if itâs been as a wide striker â heâs done great.âHeâs had a little go in the Championship. I donât quite know how successful he was or wasnât in the Championship, but heâs been very successful in League One, and not just this season.âBaldockâs strike partner Jay Emmanuel-Thomas produced a number of impressive displays in his first season in BS3, scoring 21 times and finishing 2013/14 as Cityâs top provider with nine assists â the third highest in the division. *Cotterill was quick to praise the former Arsenal youngster for his contribution, admitting he has been surprised by his attitude.âHeâs been first class and is a lovely boy,â the manager continued. âHeâs been nothing like you think he might be.âAt times he can stroll around and look like he can be a bit of an enigma, but all of a sudden he can pick up the ball, run 40 yards with it and itâll end up in the top corner.âHeâs very much a team player, but if weâre thinking he needs to be running around all over the pitch â I donât think heâs capable of doing that. No matter how fit you get him, I donât know his DNA allows him to do that.âSam Baldock can run all day long, but he canât do some of the things Jay Emmanuel-Thomas can do. When Jay gets it into his feet, itâs very rare that anyone will take it off him â youâll do well to get around those shoulders!âI understand sometimes peopleâs frustration with Jay, because he ends up doing some really special things, but unfortunately you canât do that every week â no matter who you are.âRead more at http://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/article/20140528-cotterillonselling-1577038.aspx#UxwSrWsK8y8UTJot.99
