'excellent idea well done city' - to play Rugby at AG next season. Couldn't run a p8ss up at a brewery.
If we get the sort of November, December and January again weather wise that we've just had then the pitch will be absolutely ruined for football.
Do pitches shared with rugby clubs always take a hammering? The Madjeski seems to cope.... With rugby, the nature of the game doesn't focus play on the area directly in front of the goals - unlike football, where the 6-yard boxes are mashed to a pulp.
R&W When this was first mooted we were told - 'it's ok we'll lay a 'Desso' pitch' - as other clubs. That's bad enough but now......... may the Lord help us.
Our pitch will be fine ffs. We have one of the best grounds people in the game. We're having a new pitch laid coped to play both rugby and footy. Swansea/Reading do just fine and so shall we
I think our level of interest in footy in Bristol is tenuous enough without pushing the kids in the direction of rugby. We could end up with crowds of up to 300 at Bristol City home games - but at least the rugby would be well supported
Yes it will be there for next season according to this.! http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Bristo...-pitch-stage/story-18057844-detail/story.html It's a good idea and I will be taking them up on it.!
http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/BREAKI...n-Gate-plans/story-20228678-detail/story.html During the close season in 2015, the pitch would be moved and rebuilt five metres towards the Williamsâ stand to accommodate a refurbishment of the Dolman Stand. The new DESSO pitch - the same as at Wembley - would allow rugby to be played alongside football. So we're laying the Desso pitch next pre season and moving it in 2015. Thanks Guys.
I still maintain that unless the pitch is going to be covered regularly, the amount of rain we've had will have a massive impact on it. Watford share with egg chasers don't they (?) and their pitch doesn't look very good.
As far as I can determine, Watford currently do not have a Premiership rugby team playing at Vicarage Road. Saracens have been at their own purpose built stadium in Hendon this season. So if Watford's pitch is poor this season, it is nothing to do with rugby. On the subject of a DESSO pitch. It does not involve laying a new pitch. The pitch has approx 12 inch strands of polypropylene inserted vertically into the pitch at approx one inch apart. The purpose of these plastic strands is to allow the grass roots to bind on to them so that while there is damage to the visible grass, the roots are not moved as they are with a normal grass pitch. Thus the grass continues to grow except when there are very low temperatures during some times of winter. Thus I would guess that to add 5 metres of pitch at the Williams side will not mean any disruption to the existing pitch - just add five metre all along one side. There is only one reason I can think of which would necesssitate ripping up all of the pitch to make it wider, is if the camber needs to be altered. One less factor for the doom and gloom merchants?
