Interview with Gordon Armstrong Saying Sunderland Manager Martin O'Neill Should Sign A Goal-Scoring Midfielder http://tyneandwear.sky.com/sunderland/video/25181 Its exactly what we need, however we set up 4/4/2, 4/2/3/1 or 4/3/3 we need someone in the midfield 2 or 3 who can get there foot on the ball play those killer passes in-behind to the wingers and the strikers and also get into the box at the right time to nik a goal and go on and get around 8-10goals a season. The problem is those players are a rarity and the ones that would do that job for us would either cost a fortune or we would be taking a gamble bringing someone in from abroad but its something we must do this summer in targeting a creative, goal scoring midfielder and if they have abit of pace then its an extra bonus. Our midfield is totally one paced and is pretty average at best, we need atleast 1 central midfielder this summer to add abit of class to the side. Cannot think of anyone who fits the bill 2bh mind
Web Larsson got eight goals last season from out wide try him in the centre I think he would do the job
I would play Larsson in the middle but we have to forget about his set piece delivery for a second, we need someone who can get into the box and grab a few goals. Seb is a set piece specialist and thats a bonus but that doesn't hide the fact what we need. Seb did play more centrally away against City and bagged 2 so I would certainly move him more infield especially with reports we are after someone direct with pace to play on the right wing.
Seb in the middle, mmmmmm, at least out wide he is well away from the Ref. Maybe they could Novacaine his tonge before the game to keep him out of the book.......
Larsson catts Gardner Sess new striker McLean In a 4 3 3 formation would be canny obviously we need more signings but im goin on tge fact we may not get wot we want
would be pretty disappointed if that's how we line up would have no width on the right as Larsson would be to far inside and Sess would be roaming around, thats what he is best at. As you say thats without new signings get a new CM, W and Fletcher upfront and we will be looking canny, think I would rather play Richardson in the middle over Gardner if we bring a left back in but hopefully both are nowhere near being in the lineup in our midfield/attack for the new season.
Good point about width but Larsson or bardsley could overlap and like we said that's without new signings
maybe because Bardsley is pretty woeful with the ball at his feet and I very much doubt he cud be our Danni Alves, if we want overlapping full backs we need to go and sign one for either side, providing Richardson is off.
I wasn't saying he has poor games I was just pointing out as it has been mentioned further up the page about the full back overlapping, if thats going to be the case then we will need a new right back. For all the good things Bardsley does he isn't the best going forward and will never be an overlapping full back
Like who we cant afford Dani Alves can we Bardsleys good enough he can go forward we dont need a new right back
