I was gutted when he left, he scored a fantastic goal away at Charlton for us. I think Bowyer scored an own goal straight after if I'm thinking of the same match and we lost 3-1

I don't get why people are willing to pay so much for Rossi. He scored 18 goals in 36 apps last season, then the seasons before he was a 1 in 3 guy. I mean it's good, but it hardly says that he's going to become top class in the much tougher EPL.

I'd pay a decent wedge for him, but some people are throwing around figures like £40million and that's just ****ing bonkers.

Probably would have ruined him to be fair and he wouldn't be as good as he is now.

There aren't too many players who've truly prospered AFTER leaving NUFC. Rossi, obviously, but he was only a young player on loan to us. Ditto Louis Saha. Jon-Dahl Tomasson was hopeless here, but was very successful afterward. Alan Kennedy and Terry McDermott reached full potential at Liverpool after seeking moves away from St James's. To be fair, Bramble's reputation was in tatters on departing us, but has been partially restored since.
Players like Andreas Andersson and especially Albert Luque came with big reputations and exorbitant outlays, but their careers died on arrival - never to be resuscitated. Just goes to show, while some players prosper on any stage (Keegan, Zinedine Zidane, Carlos Tevez, etc), others only seem to be able to shine all too briefly at one club. Clearly this is more likey with players who move to different countries due to different cultures, styles, personnel, etc.
