Despite spending the last 5 minutes singing his praises, Ewerthon may not be quite the saviour that I hoped.

Palmeiras Terminate Ewerthon Contract - Report
Former Borussia Dortmund and Real Zaragoza striker Ewerthon is a free agent today, after coming to a mutual agreement to terminate his contract with struggling Palmeiras.
Globoesporte reports that following a meeting between the player and the club on Thursday morning, it was agreed to cancel the remaining year of Ewerthon's contract and immediately release the 29-year-old.
The forward moved to the Sao Paulo club at the start of 2010 from Zaragoza, but faded after a promising start and after an knee operation in September he spent much of the second half of the season in the treatment room. In total he appeared 37 times for the Verdao, scoring nine times.
With Ewerthon departing, coach Luiz Felipe Scolari will focus efforts on rebuilding a squad which badly under-performed in 2010.
Palmeiras are one of four clubs hoping to recruit Milan star Ronaldinho for the coming season, and also are looking to bring in Argentine forward Lucas Viatri (from Boca Juniors) and domestic-based defenders Chico (Atletico PR) and Thiago Heleno (unattached).

So, his knee op may cause serious problems to his usefullness.
