    we've now played eight games

won 2, drawn 2 and lost 1 in the league

in the top half and one win and favourable results away from the top 4

won 1 and drawn 2 with a heavily rotated and youthful team in Europe, meaning we are not exhausting our first team

Demba Ba is joint top scorer in the PL

on top of this we have had rusty players, quite a few key injuries and a start in the PL that has included three of the hardest games we will play

if we continue getting 8 points out of every five games we will finish with 60 points, 5 fewer than last season

    i don't think that's too bad really

Picking up points when you are not playing well is a sign of a good team.

At times last season we were fairly unconvincing as well, even during that amazing run towards the back end. And don't forget that run started with a shaky 1-0 home win against Norwich as well. Lets hope history repeats! So yes Colin- I like your point.

Was going to post something like this but you took the words right out my mouth. And to think we are still getting some players up to speed and have a few key injuries still. If we can get everyone fit and playing well reasonably soon we may even be able to have a good crack at Europe as well.

It was easy to envisage a terrible start when you saw Tottenham (H), Chelsea (A), Villa (H), Everton (A) as 3 of those games we were going into as underdogs. The only disappointment was Villa, if we'd won that then we'd all be talking about a great start to the season. Fine margins.

It was a nervy game, but I think the only game we can class as "points dropped" was Aston Villa. But we would have taken 7 pts from 3 home games before the season.

Some people might say that it would have been better beating Villa and drawing against Spurs, as it looks more respectable.

But I prefer it this way. We took points away from Spurs, who are our contenders for 5th place, so it's all good.

Beating Spurs, out rivals, Drawing vs Everton away, another rival in the top 6 race, and claiming 4 out of 6 very achievable points.

    This when we're playing ****? <yikes>

The results haven't been too bad but the play has generally been terrible. Luck will only take us so far.
