As a preamble to the match tonight, I've been catching up on all the football I've missed via iplayer, having been kept out of mischievous endeavour at work. If you've seen the highlights of Arsenal vs Spurs (7/02/2015, first game MOTD), you'll have witnessed two fantastic goalkeepers.

A few of you know I'm a bit of a nut for a goalkeeping performance, and Ospina and Lloris pulled off some of the best saves I've seen, not just this season, but ever.

I realise it's a really crap season for us Newcastle fans, but we're all football fans too, and so to liven it up a bit for the next few months I'll post a thread for specific positions where we can discuss performances that have caught our eyes (from our players or other clubs, for good/bad reasons), potential starlets (we'll never get, or ****ters we might sign <laugh>) and maybe get us all thinking about the game as well.

So I start with the rational place, please share your thoughts on goalkeepers, if you haven't watched the game, catch it on iplayer <ok>

Let's hope Krul puts in a worldy tonight!

Krul's performance against Palermo must rank as one of the best for a Newcastle goalie in recent years especially given his age.

Also, Given's last appearance for us against Liverpool.

Yeah but Ospina goes down in installments and keeps pushing the ball into dangerous areas. Arsenal still haven't sorted their keeper problem despite numerous tries. Wenger is genius but I fear his inability to buy depth at centre back (finally made progress here), a good gk and a quality ball winning midfielder will forever taint his reign if he is not careful. How many attacking midfielders does one team need? I bet Arsene is into midget porn.

I nominate Schmeichel v us when they won 1-0. Most ridiculous goalkeeping performance I've ever seen. I still hate the great dane.

Also current QPR GK Alex McCarthy against Liverpool in a 0-0 draw with Reading. Brendan Rodgers had a proper mardy look on his toady face that day.

    I really liked David James.

    Bloody great bloke.

Met him in Bristol a few years back.

Not much of a Goalkeeper though ;)

I just came out of an op in hospital when that game was on. Thought the morphine was causing hallucinations.
