........... end up finishing one point behind Stoke. When we gift Bolton a lifeline this coming Sunday as we normally do and if Wigan win their remaining home game against an already relegated Wolves, which is probably an odds on result. We will be on 44 points and Wigan on 43 leaving them one point behind us. Kind of puts things into perspective of just how close we have actually come this season to being in the drop zone!

If Martinez come to the Brit Rotter it would mean a massive clear out for Stoke as our players are not flair players. We are 2 yards too slow for Martinez's style of play. I fear any new manager coming to Stoke would seriously have his work cut out to try and change the system due to what he has to work with. I think the only way he could do it is to have a look at what our youth side has to offer! A David Moyes type of manager or Martin O'Neill would be better as they make good use of what they have to work with.

I agree with you but can you see moyes coming to stoke or oneil? if we got martinez early on instead of messing about as we usually do it would give him enough time to alter the squad to his style and get rid of the garbage and the deadwood we have now but then again would martinez come here i doubt that to.

Rotter the good thing with Coates mate is that he is a Stokie through and through and will always want the best for his home town club. Now on the other hand his siblings are 100% business people and I fear that if anything happening to Coates senior it is then that we would see some major changes as his son and daughter would defo change things around.

I was just sitting looking at the prem table and a thought dawned on me. Wolves and Blackburn now confirmed relegated. They are 2 clubs that we regulary pick up points against and 2 of the only clubs we ever get an away win at. It seems like we are really going to struggle next season!

Could not agree more even yrs ago when coates had no money he was a stoke fan although i,m ashamed to say i wanted him out at the time, mr coates is a legend and the way we treated him all those yrs ago must of taken some balls and pride to come back and prove some of us wrong for wanting him out but i fear like u rightly say keeping tp could cost us, our home form was immense the first 2/3 yrs at which kept us up no doubt but when we go away from home under tp it is i must admit dire dire dire.

All good points raised here guys <ok>
Which basically shows two things that stand out..
    1. Wigan not spent that much compared to Stoke but STILL can PASS and play some decent football, and the Martinez is a great man manager he went for it a few games back knowing it could backfire but he's proved just HOW good he is.

    2. Having spent way OTT on OK player's MOST now no longer with us, and I still wonder why and that Pulis really is totally clueless.

We're in for a tough season come August no doubts UNLESS? Someone, somewhere see's the oh so obvious.

To be fair, if I was watching Swansea every week I would brick it every time they try and pass it out of defence. But, on the flipside I would be expecting an attempt on goal 9/10 times they went forward.

I agree Pulis I doubt will get us relegated but for me, I've seen enough garbage, sick of the negativity and heard enough. Especially at the home games. Far too many are now complaining and my only worry is that. It will, it may have already effected the player's.. Since Tony said " We've reached the 40pts mark" Nowt too exciting has happened.. for me, that is Pulis's fault. He should be telling the player's to buck up, and attack and at least try and gain as many pts as possible.

Re the Wigan Chairman Dave Whelan tonight said " Roberto AND the player's KNOW they still need to win on Sunday as pts mean places" I've NOT ONCE heard T.P. say that with any conviction. Add to that, you could forgive Wigan IF they didn't really turn up this weekend, but they will not be allowed to do that...

    Great Management?

Just look at how far we have come.

£90 million's worth of a sick joke and the crapulous Pulis - enough is enough

Just my opinion, but I think the heart of the team has gone and if we were in a relegation fight from early doors in the season then we would struggle. The other issue is that player like Begovic, Huth, Shawx and Crouch would become prime targets for other clubs and if their heads were turned then the only players that are good enough to effect us as a team would be compromised. Finally, you are right that TP has never been relegated, but...... he will walk if the challenge got to big...i.e. Xmas, bottom 3/4 with the crowd turned and the players questioning - we could then be in a position like Wolves!

Thats why form me a change has to happen with the Summer transfer window available for a new manager. TP has had 4 years and 90 million to prove his worth!

I respect him for what he did and whilst I have been very vocal on the man (and will continually do so) I dont think I could stand on the terraces and chant him out. Some of the things that he has done and said make him (IMO) a tw8t of a person and would much rather treat him with the contempt he deserves, but I also acknowledge what he has done "for this club"! Please go on your own terms TP so we can thank you and welcome in a new era, and for gods sake, the elevator goes down not up!

Sorry potterpalm but can`t you see how much we are struggling now !! We can`t score, can`t pass,TP doesn`t know how to change tactics, and therefore it doesn`t matter who he brings in in the summer ( if he can get anybody to come here knowing full well that they`ll have to run around like headless chickens for 90 mins) and I also wonder if PC is willing to spend another load of money to watch the garbage we have been playing because as I stated before whoever comes here the tactics won`t change. Waddo made a good point as well, Wolves and Blackburn gave us 12pts this season and where would we be without them! Sorry for the ramble but at the moment I feel we are the worst team in the prem and I hope to God I`m wrong but I feel we are certs to go down next year!

If we don't get 40 points we will struggle - Agreed
If we don't have 3 worse teams below us we will struggle - Agreed
If Man City win the league it is only because they have 18 worse teams below them - Agreed
Stoke play a frustrating and often boring style of play, especially away from home - Agreed.
A new manager would struggle to get out of this team what TP does at present without a massive change in personel - Agreed.

Pulis will take us down next season - Erm, No I don't think he will.

Could everyone just take a happy pill and realise what we have.

Ah I forgot. Because TP has built himself an insurance policy (Nobody else could play his team and because he has spent all the money there probably wouldn't be much left for an overhaul), we should never ever question his ability or suggest an alternative?

It seems a bit of a primitive way to approach things.

When TP last joined I had a dream where the devil came to visit me and offered Premier league football, an FA Cup final and several domestic quarter finals for my soul - I turned him down so he then offered a better than expected European run.

He laughed when I finally agreed and said I should have got assurances over our playing style - It would be the worst since Wimbledon.....

So it's actually my fault - Sorry.

Your missing the point as is always the case when these discussions start. No one is debating what TP has achieved to date, but to state that anyone new would struggle because of the squad and system created and hence justifies keeping TP indefentley is ******ed.

FA Cup draw that Vale could have got through and Europa by defualt does not count TP as a genius! However, his pool europa games were a success and Stoke looked like a team that could go deep in the comp, shame he ****ed up the valencia games!

Does anyone else think that the Europa games ( OK YES they we're good because like all Stoke fans I was excited and apart from the Valencia game we did really well)

THINK that this actually fecked up our season? Just wondering as no doubt TP will use that as an excuse for what has largely been a crap season Prem wise?

He does keep repeating the X number of games we've had to play.
