Forgive me for being sceptical but this statement has been issued to head-off a heavy fine (or stronger sanction) being issued by the Premiership/FA.

There's probably a fair element of that in it Dave, my little strike partner :emoticon-0152-heart.

Have they lodged an appeal regarding the red card yet?

Bloody hell, that was quick. What about Atkinson - is he receiving an official bollocking? If so, I think they should get sweats involved <yikes>

well i think i'll give everton due credit and beleive that they will make the effort to ban anyone throwing stuff. they value their good name after all.

the over turning of the red is also fair if slightly unexpected as if atkinson said the player was using too much force in his report then he's not getting backed like normal... but then again after viewing the replay he might have recommended the change.... he REALLY ought to not be reffing for 2 weeks in the prem as a result of his dire performances... he's by far the most card happy ref in the league

Hopefully they find the culprits and give them a ban just no need for them kind of supporters and i'm not just saying this because it's Everton, any fans from any team that decide to throw objects to players should get banned and charged with assault by the police
