Its happened again. Another "ghost goal" that the linesman missed. Add to that Fellaini's perfectly good goal ruled out for off-side and we have yet another Team robbed by blundering linesmen. Richard Keys said this morning that it's the same linesman that robbed us at Bolton but I think he's got it wrong. It wasn't Pillock Pollock, was it?
Fairly sure Keys is wrong, based mostly on it being Richard Keys. If the whole ball was over the whole line it was literally by millimetres and I don't think he deserves too much flak. The offside was a far worse decision.
we all seem to get one from time to time, the only way forward is goal line technology, no where as bad as the bolton game
I could forgive the offside much more easily - they were leaning in opposite directions and it was just an outstretched foot playing him on. You get a feel for the ball crossing the line and a view straight across should make it easy. The assistant's name did ring bells (Ceri someone) but I don't have a great memory for such things.
It says the most about the standard of people running football in our World, that they still have not brought in simple goal line technology.
Look at it from all the angles and its a very close call as to whether the ''whole'' ball has crossed the line. It isn't comparable to our one against Bolton imo.
I've said it before we don't need expensive goal line technology, we just need the 4th official to officiate..GIVE HIM A MONITOR!!!!!! he can see in seconds whether it was a goal or not. Doesn't slow down the game because he would make a decision quicker than the arguing footballers getting the game going again. Failing that strap members of the FA to each goal post so they can decide if the ball is over the line or not. And get Terry banned this year not next.!!!!
From Loftforwords website:- "Ceri Richards, the linesman who failed to spot Ashley Young was three yards offside before he dived to win a penalty from QPR at Old Trafford last season, was at the centre of more controversy at Goodison Park tonight. The hapless official failed to spot Victor Anichebeâs second half header had crossed the line, and although the Nigerian then put Everton in front against Newcastle, super sub Deba Ba struck a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw." He also made the wrong call with his offside decision on the other "goal". Excellent, very entertaining game - certainly a whole lot less stressful watching this as a "neutral" compared to us playing!
I actually thought the most scandalous decision was the ref blowing the whistle and failing to play advantage when Newcastle were through on goal in a 3v1 attack. What fails to get mentioned is that the free kick that led to the 2nd disallowed goal was never a free kick in a million years. Newcastle robbed by the ref, Everton robbed by the linesman, however it made for entertainment and was the best game I've watched so far this season
Yes i saw this wasn't it straight after the linesman didn't give the goal, Newcastle broke and the ref saw the foul let it go for a few seconds and then blow up and gave Newcastle a free kick instead of playing advantage.
1. That wouldn't have happened if the rightful goal would have stood 2. It seemed like that but there were 2 Everton defenders who gave up when they realised it was a foul and one of them would have probably taken the ball off of Ben Arfa instead of allowing him to run straight after the challenge
