Who'll finish higher come the end of the season. I think Liverpool will struggle until you bring a striker in January whilst it's no fluke we're as high as we are at the moment, though of course we're not going to stay in the top 2 the whole season once United and City get their acts together. This along with your COC and Europa league games with an already bare thin squad is why I think Everton will finish higher, though we're all bias in this (unless other boards fans care to vote) What do you think?
My heart says we will finish higher My head says......... we will finish higher, no really, got a feeling we may just nick it, in fact I still think we have still got a decent shot at top 4
Would Evertonians prefer: 1) Finish second in league behind only Liverpool or 2) Finish above Liverpool ...? (obviously don't mean this in a realistic manner)
And I think Everton are in for a good season but we will get sixth behind Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal and the spuds (in that order)
Well you clearly are, as summed up by your post. Everton finished higher than you last season and have started this season in much better form, looking a lot better team than you as well. I fancy Everton to finish higher, Liverpool won't finish better than 7th. If their lucky I see Everton coming as high as 5th.
Everton will have a drop in form at some point but I don't think there will be much in it at the end of the season.
I honestly don't know. Everton have been playing some very good football so far. We need to continue improving.
you can't compare the starts to the season Man Utd Aston Villa West Brom Newcastle Swansea Southampton* Avg. English League Position for those clubs (Last season) 10th *Southampton finished 2nd in the championship so they were ranked 22 is a bit different to West Brom Man City Arsenal Sunderland Man United Norwich Avg. English League Position for those clubs (Last season) 6th There's a clear difference in quality.
i think our squad is too thin, although, if i look past Everton's first team i don't see much depth (neither did Leeds!)
It's still too early to tell. Can Everton maintain their start to the season? Will Liverpool continue their improvement? It could be a very interesting season and I think both sides will be very close but, of course, my heart says Liverpool to finish higher. Although I don't bet on footy, I'm tempted to put something on United not finishing in the top 5.
Everton are in a purple patch and we're emerging from a poor start to the season. It's 'early doors' (sorry Jonesey!) yet, and as Bozz says, it can be argued that We've had the much harder start to the season. It'll be very tight this season between us and Everton and could go either way. I've predicted us to finish between 5-7 and I'd predict Everton to fall within the same bracket. We'll be direct competitors for those positions. Everton's side look the strongest they've had in years and we're still very much a work in progress, albeit with signs of potential. As I say it'll be tight. As I'm a biased, 'delusional' redman, I'd say we'll nick it. But it's in no way a certainty.
You'd be wasting your money. There aren't four teams that are capable of finishing above them IMO. Remember, don't look at individuals, Man Utd are very much a team, more so than any other side in the league IMO.
Im not just comparing comparing starts to the season, like you suggest im taking into account the finishing positions of last year and the end of season table showed Everton were the better team. Not only were they the better better side last year, Everton have started this year really well whereas LFC are continuing to show the same problems they did last year, a complete inability to score and win games when they should. Its no certainty they will finish above Liverpool and there's no harm in thinking you might finish above them. But to dismiss Everton out of hand is delusion at its finest because they've performed better than you for over a year now and the results haven't lied.
Who knows? But I'm an eternal optimist (when it comes to footie if nothing else) so I'll always vote for us. It depends on whether or not Everton can maintain their good start, and if BR's system starts to work for us and we can build on recent improvements. A long way to go yet.
That's the second time you've used that pun, RHC. It's pretty good, TBF. I should have acnowledged it earlier. PS For the slower: Entomology = study of insects; Etymology = study of words.
