Everton manager David Moyes is stepping up his pursuit of a new striker and is lining up a move for Sunderlandâs Asamoah Gyan, according to reports in The People. Gyan impressed during his debut season in the Premier League with Sunderland but he was linked with a move away from the Stadium of Light during the course of the summer transfer window. However it shocked everyone when the Ghanaian left Sunderland to move on loan to U.A.E club Al Ain and it is believed Gyan is being paid up to £6million for his loan period at the club. Moyes has however been told by Everton chairman Bill Kenwright that funds will be available and it is felt the Toffees manager is keeping a close eye on Gyan in the Middle East.
Wouldn't it all be so much easier if he just came and managed us? He could have Gyan for free next summer. Good idea?
Newspaper nonsense! As Quinn has said, anyone buying Gyan will have to match what we paid for him, plus ridiculous wages ............ does anyone really believe that Everton have that sort of money? They are more likely to sell another 'star' to balance the books. Hopefully someone with money will buy him and that we spend the money + £6m income from the loan, on the sort of striker we crave
I've heard lots of talk about Moyes, but to be honest, I find his Everton team pretty boring to watch.
Everyone keeps on about Moyes as a future Sunderland Manager can some one please tell me why? What has he won with Everton, his football is boring as ****. When bruce goes we want some one to take us to the next Level, I thought it was Bruce but maybe wrong but it certainly aint Moyes AS to the OP if Moyes wants him and is willing to pay what we paid for him and match his wages let him take the Lazy money grabbing ****.
I'd expect to see a move into the top half of the table in, say, three years. It's a long time since he was out of it.
I wouldn't disagree with you there. But he doesn't often suffer relegation jitters either. That's the 'next stage' for us, I reckon.
I'm not too chuffed with Bruce's defensive tactics either at the moment, but all I'm saying is Moyes's tactics at Everton, although reasonably successful, is not exactly exciting to watch.
Think his style is dictated a lot by the nature of his clubs transfer policy and injuries. Sure he'd love 2go out and buy a 15million pound striker and play open attacking football however being given next 2no money 2spend and suffering chronic injuries to strikers has forced his hand. He's turned them into a solid, hard 2beat, hard working unit who hasn't struggled with relegation in recent memory. Plus if you look at his record of developing players such as Baines, Cahill, Osman, Coleman etc he clearly has a good eye for a transfer, youth and prospects. However let's not forget that Everton themselves have had a couple of very dodgy starts previously and made it out the other side so fingers x'd we can follow suit. KTF
If ive said it once Ive said it a million times...theres no way Moyes would ever come to Sunderland..hes Alex Fergies replacement..its the worst kept secret in the North west..the United Hierarchy have been monitoring him since his days at Preston and more significantly he is Sir Alex's own choice as eventual successor. What Moyes has done on the budget Kenwright has given him is nothing short of amazing. As for this Gyan story total and utter crap, EFC are on the bones of their arse, with strong rumours in the press down here that Baines is the next one out the door in January to try and balance the books..two of Baines, Jagielka and Rodwell apparantly
I wonder if the next Man. U. manager won't be Portuguese. Moyes is a good manager, but the man I'm talking about has a special appeal - he's world marketing dynamite. And Man. U. are very much that way inclined.
