@SouthamptonFC: "As soon as we receive any information about the possible rearrangement of our home game against @Everton, we'll let everyone know. #saintsfc"
Talk of moving it to Sunday, but BT will still show it. Moved matches often lose their TV slot if being shown on Sky.
Think it's becuase they might have to put chelsea's game there now that they'll have champions league during the week
So clearly, Manchester United and Chelsea's fixtures have a massive impact on ours and Everton's. Or am I missing something obvious?
We will move kick off times because the early Saturday lunchtime game will be given to a side still in the Champions League to give them the most time to recover and prepare for their semi-final match the following week. It does make sense.
It doesn't really make sense, it just highlights the stranglehold the tv companies have over the Premier League. Yes, ok maybe Chelsea's game could be moved forward but why should our game move too - after all who cares how inconvenient it is for the fans if the kick-off changes after tickets have been purchased with no notification.
Saints have confirmed that the game against Everton WILL NOT be moved. Kick-off: Saturday 26th of April - 12:45pm - Live on BT Sport 1
Only just read this thread for the first time and was getting very worried (and annoyed) as I read the first few posts. I was then mightily relieved to see that it is still Saturday. The reason I was so relieved is that Saturday 26th is my Saints mad son's 8th birthday and he was so looking forward to going to the game on his actual birthday (tickets already bought). If it had been moved to the Sunday it would not have been the same. So pleased I didn't have to break that news to him in the morning!
If fairness though, I think a lot of neutrals would be wanting to watch Liverpool vs Chelsea. But yes, it would no doubt have impacted on both Saints and Everton fans. But hey, now that Man Utd have been knocked out, it's no longer our issue. Sky can now simply switch around Liverpool vs Chelsea (from Sunday afternoon to Saturday evening) and Man Utd vs Norwich (from Saturday evening to Sunday afternoon - something which they would not have been able to do had Man Utd also progressed in the CL).
In this day and age where most people have to watch a crappy link for 3pm kick offs, i can not understand why 3pm kick offs are not shown on TV. Very few people rock upto the stadium at 255 thinking they will buy a ticket as the they fancy watching a game, so the game being on TV would not affect the gate that much as most fans have season tickets or have bought the ticket a week before. I am somewhat spoilt and have Direct TV that shows all PL games, just can not understand why Sky or whoever has the contract can not do the same
The argument is that if all 3pm games were televised it wouldn't take that long (maybe a year or 2) for attendance figures to drop as people get used to/find it better/cheaper watching at home. Atmosphere is a big part of what makes the PL the "best league in the world" supposedly and if you had less people attending then the atmosphere at games would suffer. For me it is more about the clubs just wanting the most they can get. A big fat Sky TV contract for say 10 televised games a year (if you aren't one of the big clubs) and virtual sell outs for all the other games. Only way I can see 3pms being televised is if the TV contract got even bigger than it is now.
