"EVERTON fans are suspected of stealing £500 worth of crisps and chocolate from a service station after their FA Cup match with Sunderland. Up to 50 people, understood to have been travelling back to Merseyside on a coach following the Stadium of Light clash, stopped off at Hawthorn Services on the A19 on Tuesday night. While some paid for their snacks, police say others helped themselves before walking out without handing over cash. Investigating officers claim some of those involved were wearing Everton tops and they are now working with Merseyside police in a bid to trace those responsible. Sergeant Paul Footes, of Easington Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: âThere were 50 people in total in the shop and not all necessarily wearing Everton tops, some of them were. âA number have taken crisps, chocolate and pasties and other food stuffs and made no effort to make a payment before heading out of the petrol station. âWeâre looking at CCTV footage and will be taking to the coach companies and Merseyside Police to help us make some arrests.â Two members of staff were on the premises when the incident happened at 11pm. Since then, police have revisited the business to help it put a series of measures in place to try and prevent further thefts. Anyone with information is asked to contact Durham Constabulary on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111." ...
Aye, not like the Scousers to steal like. Better than searching the tips for a tasty morsel I suppose.
