Dave Prentice of the Echo posted his yearly merseyside team today with a few questionable choices. Obviously he's trying to balance Everton to Liverpool players to stop people crying though...

Who'd make your team of 2011? For me:

Reina - No question overall, just a few dodgy mistakes but all keepers make them.
Johnson - played really well this year either right or left, much more solid defensively and provides some needed attacking burst down the flanks.
Skrtel - Strength to strength lately, consistant and reliable. Not missed a game all year.
Agger - Really come into his own now that injuries are behind him. Solid partnership with Skrtel.
Baines - Enrique has been quality, but only been here since August. Baines has played well all year.
Lucas - First name on the sheet. Outstanding year for him, finally getting recognition.
Fellaini - Not convinced on a second central midfielder, Fellaini best of the rest probably.
Drenthe - Not sure on this one, but I think he's a good option wide left. More assists/goals than most other options.
Kuyt - Crucial goals although showing signs of decline recently.
Maxi - Like Kuyt, many crucial goals over the year, earns his place.
Suarez - Quality written all over. Great first season in the PL, still room to improve.

4-5-1 with Maxi off Suarez and Kuyt/Drenthe pushing high and wide.

    --Johnson--Agger--Skrtel---Enrique---
    ----------Lucas---Fellaini------------
    ---Hendo-----Suarez------Drenthe---
    ---------------Maxi-----------------

I'd like to try that - and I think, formwise that it's the best team Liverpool could put out. A bit depressing when you think about it, as the strike force in particular is lacking.
