    Afternoon all,

    I came across this video of Ever Banega's performance against Barcelona recently and can't help but feel that he is a more natural successor to Alonso:

    The lad is technically gifted and has fantastic range and vision but what really caught my eye is his ability to win the ball back and be strong enough to shield it when in possession. I'm not a big follower of Spanish football but can anyone confirm the defensive side to his game is consistent (i.e. this wasn't just a one off against Barca?).

    Questions have been raised regarding his mentality but he's still only 24 (I think) and Valencia will be looking to sell to raise cash.

    We were after him when Rafa was here. I have said from the beginning of the transfer window we should get him. Hopefully Champions league next year will entice him.

    He did have some attitude issues when he first joined Valencia, but he's grown out of it now. In that clip there he seems like a more attacking version of Lucas. His tackling and shielding is very similar, but his dribbling looks a lot better, since Lucas doesn't really do any. Looked like Valencia gave Barca a good game.

    I feel if we were to sign a player like Banega, he would replace Adam. However, I still feel that we need another (physically) strong DM to compete with Lucas. Imagine signing M'Vila and Banega next summer ...

    They tied them I believe. Some real surprises this year with teams, whisper it, not scared of barca and Real! I think Banega is a boss in the middle and would love for us to get him.

    I have seen quite a bit of footage of this guy and he clearly has talent. I'd happily see him join, just imagine this.

    I reckon they are the next tier types of players that we will be after should we qualify for the champions league. We've set a decent foundation with our current signings and that will be the next stage in our development. I reckon the likes of Banega, Hazard, Vorteghen(sp) and M'Vila will be the type of player we will be after.
