These videos show how well he uses the ball, He wins tackles and is strong also. If I had to buy a midfielder it would be him, realistically he wouldn't cost too much due to Valencia's finances. He used to have an attitude problem, and was on the verge of being shipped out to Everton a few years back, but has matured, and is a real player now. Aye. Looks composed on the ball and not lacking confidence in passing it. The more I think of our midfield the more depressed I get! No passion and little ability. To think of our midfield over the years, Robson, Ince (Yes him), Keane, Scholes at his height, and Beckham; we were totally spoilt. Need an overhaul. It must be done.
Yeah, times are changing now, Prem teams used to go for "Bully Boys" with "stamina" and "guts "in the centre of midfield, but now technique and composure on the ball is imperative... Definately need to bring someone in. But I still have hopes for Anderson...
i've never understood this obsession with people wanting strong bullyboys throughout the team. look at the best barca players, 2 of which are midfielders. xavi and iniesta are both just 5'7. so is messi. pedro is 5'6 and david villa is 5'9. doesnt matter how big or strong you are..if you can't get the ball off the opposition and can't get near them , you aren't going to score. by the way, banega's passing in that city game (havent had time to watch the other links) was just sublime and effortless. that's what our midfield is missing, someone with craft and guile.
