Anyone else share the notion that this has been one of the most eventful and at times out-right bizarre seasons for Saints in quite a long time? There have already been so many memorable situations and incidents this season and we're only in January! Here's just a few examples: - Former academy player, Gareth Bale becomes the world's most expensive player when he signs for Real Madrid at a cost of £85 million. - A club record summer spend of £35 million on three new players, including a club record fee of £15 million for Italian international, Dani Osvaldo from AS Roma. - 3rd place by mid-November, our highest league position in over 20 years. - Becoming the darlings of pundits and media alike who rave about our high pressing game and the integration of our academy players. - 3 players called up to the England squad, all making their debuts this season. - Lambert's goal against Scotland. - Lallana's goal against Hull. - Osvlado's goal against Man City. - The Boruc/wind incident against Stoke. - The Boruc/pirouette incident against Arsenal. - The freak punching of the referee against Newcastle (albeit by an opposing player). - The dugout/tunnel fight against Newcastle which resulted in Osvaldo receiving a ban and hefty fine from the FA. - The Lallana vs Clattenburg 'you've changed...' incident. - Rumours of Luke Shaw going to Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea for £30 million (which would make him the most expensive left-back in history). - The resignation of chairman Nicola Cortese. - The 'will he, wont he quit' situation with manager, Pochettino. - The emergence of Katharina Liebherr. - The freak double ankle injuries to Lovren and Ramirez, suffered seconds apart against Sunderland. - The promotion of Gareth Rogers to chief executive in the wake of Cortese's resignation. - The training ground fight and subsequent club ban of Dani Osvaldo. To be continued.... It's been such a crazy season so far, you could honestly write a book about it. I mean, half the things that have happened so far, you really couldn't make up!
Except for in the league currently, where we're quite marooned. Suppose if things are getting dull results-wise, then someone has to take it into their own hands to liven things up off the pitch.
Yeah, though we usually manage to keep things interesting by throwing the odd game, or getting multiple serious injuries...
