Anyone read Eddies coments in the YEP:

"At the risk of repeating myself, I’d have expected to see more signings than we have by this stage of the summer. Other clubs are clearly further on than ourselves".

"Only Simon Grayson knows what’s in the pipeline and how he expects his squad to shape up but we can’t pretend that nothing is going on elsewhere. We’re seeing deals every day, and good ones too. I’m not saying that I rate every player who’s been taken on by a Championship club but there are more than a few who could have done a decent job for Leeds".

"My own preference as a coach was to have signings in before pre-season training started but I definitely think it’s an advantage to have a good number on board by the time you begin your friendlies"

"If players aren’t good enough for other Championship clubs then in my view they’ve no place at Leeds either"
What we’re seeing elsewhere is managers flexing their muscles financially. Ipswich Town are clearly benefiting from selling Connor Wickham to Sunderland and a fair chunk of that money seems to have been thrown back into the squad.

As for Leicester City, their spending goes on and on. The latest name I’ve seen linked with them is Owen Hargreaves, pictured below, recently released by Manchester United. Okay, he’s had major injury problems, but he’d be some player in the Championship if he was fit enough to get through a decent number of games next season.

Little things like that make you realise the extent to which Leicester are going for it. If you’re a free agent or a player looking for a move then you’d automatically look at Leicester as a decent option if they came forward and offered you a deal".

"Anyone thinking about coming to Elland Road will want some assurances about how next season will go. That sort of assurance comes first and foremost from the manager but secondly from the strength of the squad and the quality of the others signings"

Some great points, but obviously the big one for me was the ambition issue. If players see a lack of ambition, and in our case this must be prem football, they'll go elsewhere. Wages could be one thing, but suspect ambition is the biggy
