It is well documented that I am not a fan of Steve Evans. The dreadful start to the season of only 4 wins in 20 games in all competitions did absolutely nothing to help appease me to this. However, since that game we have now won 6 of our last 7 games in all competitions bringing the stats up to a more respectable 10 wins from 27 games in all comps. I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised with the recent up turn in form and can concede that is now starting to earn my backing. I won't hide from the fact I still don't like his pitchside manner nor his previous transgressions constantly surrounding him but at last we have found a formula that is starting to produce positive results. What's changed to produce this formula you ask? Playing Steve Lovell's diamond formation
Don't worry Pegleg - by the end of January your cynicism may return. We have a tough period ahead in the next few weeks - it will be inteesting to see your updated statistics in 5 weeks time.
It was quite pleasing to see the Gills get praise on the EFL show. However, it was highlighted, and although I have not checked, the Gills will not be serious contenders for the play-offs until they start beating the top six sides. Well no better test than Ipswich up next, but even if we lose, to think we are looking at the top end of the table, rather than the bottom is refreshing indeed. I think we are starting to find our true ground within the league, with the financial budget we have.
