    Statistics ad damned lies !
I'm expecting flack from brb /and / or grumpygit - and......
I can't argue against the number of points accrued since the start of December. I am happy that we are safe from relegation ( for another year. ) I will admit that the standard of football has been better than in the previous 3 years (( it couldn't have been much worse )) -- but --

I look beyond the result at the final whistle. I will also look at the entertainment on offer -- especially if I have travelled for several hours etc etc.
I am not totally convinced by some - even recent, performances.

We beat Blackpool in a match that involved 5 goals - but with very little quality. We beat Doncaster - only because of two own goals and the luxury of 11 v 10 ( and even then we struggled .) We played a woeful Southend side, and just about managed to beat them(( although I do have to ask '' where the hell was the left side of the midfield and defence at the end when Rush should have equalised ? )). The quality of this game was virtually non existent......... I actually enjoyed, ( more ), the performance at Burton - where no goals were scored !

The general quality of sides in this season's League 1 is poor. It would be a 'good year' to win this division - but - any of the sides that do gain promotion, will need to greatly improve to survive in the Championship -- and at GFC, we are a long, long way from ready for promotion -- and still well short of producing convincing performances--------------- to entice fans to go to a sodden, extremely cramped Roots Hall, on a miserable, cold Tuesday night - when there's Champions League football on the telly.

OK - you can now shove 3 points down my throat.

I surprise myself by saying "I agree with always" the quality of our performances are definitely worse than they were earlier in the season, strangely we are winning.
Most on here will know that I was supporting the team and Evans early season when we looked like having a relegation fight on our hands, I could see the improvement in our play and was convinced we would come good.
The last month or so, I think our overall play has been worse, yet the results better, maybe I need to start following a different sport. <doh>

Football's a funny old game -- although I think it will be a while before Cameron John will be laughing.
