If so, (and I'd rather watch the grass grow as watch such contrived rubbish) , then they should surrender their places in the English League forthwith.
As much as I adore SAFC I’d find it hard to continue watching football if this goes through. FFS do they not make enough money? They already have a massive financial advantage over the rest anyway. We should be looking at ways of making football more competitive, not less. If Sky or BT pick up the rights for this then they can expect a call from me straight away as I’ll be cancelling.
I don't think it will go ahead. Its just a bargaining position to get their way in the proposed Champions League reforms. Unfortunately, those reforms won't make football any more competitive than this will.
I know its not the most sensible place to look for balanced views (unlike here ) but the response on Twitter is almost unanimously opposed to this.
If they want to go then they can **** off and give up their place in the English game. Get shot of the money grabbing bastard's. Man City fans were whinging about the cost due to the amount of times they went to Wembley, well **** off if you have 3 away games in a week at Barca, Milan and Paris under this set up - get your ****ing passports out, get a loan from Wonga and jog on. Edit: have that run of away games over Christmas and new year. Enjoy, you money grabbing bunch of bellends.
Fair play to all the organisations, basically saying they’ll be banned from any other competition and players might not be able to represent their countries. Good on Bayern who have turned it down. What a bunch of bastards man, really trying to kill the game
Total greed, nothing less. They care not one iota about the game of football and its fans. Give me Lge1 any day if the week.
Absolutely right. Good riddance to them. I certainly won't be subscribing to any TV Deal for this league.
I bet no supporters of any of those clubs would want this. The whole idea is fundamentally flawed and would it wouldnt last 3 seasons.
No - but I literally did that when I read it, nearly ruined my laptop just about to post the match thread too
With International Football to contend with, fixture congestion is bad enough without introducing another club tournament. If they want this, they should resign from the league.
It won’t happen, the European footballing bodies won’t allow it and the premier league have said they won’t allow clubs to be involved and stay in the league.
