REVEALED: Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City 'among 11 founder teams in secret talks to launch European Super League' in major threat to future of Premier League and Champions League https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...ecret-talks-launch-European-Super-League.html England's leading clubs have been secretly plotting to join a European Super League that would destroy the Premier League and the Champions League and condemn clubs like Tottenham and Everton to relative obscurity
This story is recycled every 4 or 5 years, it wouldn;t kill the premier league, it would kill the clubs who joined it.
No we wouldn’t. The long term damage would be to those who ran off chasing the coin, as that ‘product’ would die on its arse after an initial period of novelty value wore off. Those left would see football return to some form of sanity, I’m all for it, have been for years.
I wonder if the smaller teams crowds would dwindle once the fans get bored of watching Alan Kimble’s and Darren Huckerby’s.
Your proper fans would **** off to F.C. United and Salford City and just leave the Berkshire hardcore together with the assortment of iPad wielding tourists.
Fingers crossed it happens. My season ticket along with general matchday tickets would drop in price, so a lot more of the working class can start coming back. You'll probably see clubs bring through more homegrown talent as well seeing as most foreign stars would wanna be part of a side in the "ESL". England national team would benefit as a result.
True, I hope the idea never comes to fruition, man utd betrayed the FA Cup and it's traditions for the sake of FIFA money and a worthless title which was the Fifa equivalent of the FA community shield and the Uefa Super Cup and were pilloried for it. But the Super League idea is a million times more unacceptable not just because of the hate it will cause for the club's involved but also the financial damage it will bring upon the English game.
