Napoli Spartak Moscow Legia Warsaw ... tough ... but this is where we now are as a club ... bring it on!
Napoli - agreed Spartak Moscow - 2nd in a poorer league than the premier Legia Warsaw - won their league (also not a strong league) - so presumably they dropped out of a champions league qualifying round Points will be swapped right across the board methinks and one of the unknown factors will be the travel involved and how teams handle it. Also its imperative to win the group as the 2nd place team plays a third place Champions league group team to advance in a knockout if I'm not mistaken
Tougher opposition in the groups all round this year as the random countries and the farmers league teams are in the play school conference cup (with spurs ). The match schedules should be announced tomorrow I belive once they've checked any fixture conflicts i.e. spurs and west ham can't both be at home. Away fans attending is scheduled to be announced next week. Assume not going to be permitted as with the first round on international matches next month. Wouldn't fancy attempting Moscow anyhow....
Napoli pushing for another venue as a number of their players cant travel to the UK. Would hate to lose home advantage on that one. If one leg is held in a neutral venue then surely both would have to be.
We shouldn't have to lose home advantage. Like you say NZ both legs should be played at a neutral venue if this is the case.
Rules changed today and all of Napoli's players are being allowed to travel and play without quarantine. My first match since December 2019 so hoping for a good game.
So, thoughts on the game and the first real appearance of Daka and Somare? I only saw the first 30 mins and last 15 so cant really give a good viewpoint. thought they were 4 terrific goals and even though we led by 2 it looked like backs to the wall for most of what I saw. Disappointing to hear of the nonsense of the Napoli fans, thought those days were over. No history between us so just dickheads.
The midfield of Soumare and N’didi looked class - shame they both get yellow cards as it slightly stifled it. Would pair them in the next game too!
No Iheanacho tonight. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/leicester-kelechi-iheanacho-stopped-border-25102439 I've no idea if it was Ian himself or the club who were responsible for the paperwork but someone has monumentally cocked up here. I know there's a ton of paperwork to travel at the minute but seriously
Pretty sure he’d have started too. Does that mean Vardy will play or Daka? We need to win having let the lead slip in the first game so I’d expect Vardy to play, but I’d prefer him to have a breather. Some one is in for a rollicking at the club!
And it was some effort to get there, a blog by one of ours on the trip. http://theposthorngallop.blogspot.com/2021/10/the-moscow-25.html?m=1
