Just thought that what Fulham achieved in the Europa League on that memorable run of games to reach the final was put into perspective last night by both Manchester clubs going out!

    Aaah, the memories!

To be fair, I think we were a bit more bothered about the Europa League than either of the Manchester Clubs (even though City picked a pretty strong team). Good memories though.

I was reminded of our Europa exploits the other night when Chelsea overturned a 3-1 first leg deficit against Italian opposition to win 5-4 on aggregate. Mind you, ours was against the mighty Juventus rather than the slightly less prestigious Napoli, AND we didn't need extra time, so their result isn't as impressive. Just saying.

I watched the City game last night and you can't tell me that those players didn't care about going through. The effort they put in in the second half was incredible.

You have the advantage on me, Bandy, I didn't see any of it. Fair enough.

I still say Chelsea's triumph is but a shadow of ours, though.

Oh it is Cappy, Chelsea on paper have a stronger team than Napoli, you can't say the same about us and Juventus. Plus at one point we were 4-1 down, whereas Chelsea were only ever two goals down.

I didn't watch the Utd game but I can imagine they were less up for winning the competition than City. I would imagine them being in the Europa is more of an embarrassment to them than City considering their CL status and prestige. Fergie was only one goal down and took off players in preparation for their next PL game whereas Mancini threw on Dzeko to try and chase the game.

    Quite a parallel.

I watched both games last night and City, certainly in the second half suggested they really wanted to go through whereas United's attitude was a bit of an insult to the competition. None of their players nor their manager looked like they wanted to win it.

Agreed about MCity, Ireland. They definitely pushed for it in the 2nd half and nearly pulled it back with the Joe Hart header in the last seconds. ManU were so outplayed in the first game that they just didn't have any belief.

Got to say most EPL teams would struggle against a Bikbao team playing like that. And every one of them a Basque.
