Europa league spots

  1. Are you for or against Cup winners/finalists getting the last spots?

I think it's a stupid idea. The best teams that have proven themselves better than the teams below them by finishing higher in the league and getting more points should be qualifying for Europe.

Stoke and Birmingham in Europa league... <doh>

I don't mind, it does give a fair chance to the other teams, and it means there's usually a different team in europe every year
Put it this way - you wouldn't be saying this now if we'd won the league cup

Good idea, winning the cup(s) should be rewarded with European football. And it gives teams outside the top 6 more of a chance.

The reason Tash thinks it is a stupid idea is because he is a stupid boy.

Of course it is fair, and I for one like seeing new teams playing European football every so often.

How else would we have seen Millwall, Southampton, West Ham, Birmingham, Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, probably Stoke, etc in the UEFA Cup?

What happens if both FA Cup finalists qualify for the Champions League? Does a semi-finalist get a place or does it go to the 6th/7th place PL team?

Maybe give a spot to the team who scored the most goals that didn't qualify automatically for Europe. Could be interesting and encourages an attacking style of play.

I can remember the time when there was a competition called the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, where all you needed to do to qualify was to be a city, but it didn't mean anything because even if you won it, it wasn't recognised by EUFA, maybe they should bring it back now that Sunderland are in with a chance of entering.
