Just wondered on everyones thoughts of the outside chance of europa league qualification?

If im correct teams from 5th - 7th qualify. However there is also the chance of one of these teams winning the FA cup, which would allow 8th to qualify (If im correct)? (Probably wont happen with the teams left!) Also there is the fair play road to qualification but im not sure where we stand on that!

Personally i cant see it happening but we have to aim high to keep the best players and bring in the best players. At the start of the season i would have taken 17th and i would now as a last resort. But if we grind out results and press on we can be dark horses.

I only raise the issue because we are 2 points behind bolton (who are 7th) but we have a game in hand.

I may be deluded but its nicer to talk about europe than relegation!

2 weeks ago I would have said it was certainly possible
Now, with injuries taking their toll on our strikeforce, and with 'him' leaving, I'm not so hopeful
I think we could finish about 12th, which will give us something to aim for next season

edit: to qualify for europe, the lowest place is 7th, IF the league cup and FA cup is won by a champion league qualifying team
so we will get to europe at 7th if arsenal beat birmingham and one of the big teams win the FA cup

Yeah same. At one point this season it was definitely a consideration, maybe not so much now
Absolutely nothing wrong with blind optimism however!

Isn't it only top 7 if top 4 clubs win both domestic cups? Doubt we can sneak in, was starting to think we just might before a certain something...

7th spot is tacken by the unwashed at the minute and we are 6 points off them, possible we can do it and would love to beat them to 7th spot on goal diffrence just to ruin their european dreams <laugh>

But in reality can't see it happening, saying that I didn't see us coming back to draw on Saturday.

    We can all dream

    No chance.

Pains me to say i, but I think the current top 7 teams will be the same top 7 teams at he end of the season.

We could still be top half though - Villa, Everton, Bolton our the main competition for 10th and above.

I also think a large swathe of the table (including relegation) could be decided by goal difference - which is something so far we are strong on.
