UEFA have announced that the Europa League has been extended to 6th place for English teams due to the Fair Play league. This should make qualifying a certainty for Spurs. I guess you guys will be happy with this news! <ok>

Isn't is because City won the FA cup (which would have been a euro spot) but have qualified for the CL, thereby extending the Europa spot to 6th place?

No, Man City's Europa League spot goes to Stoke as runners up.

The extra fairplay spot does not go to 6th place automatically. It goes to the team highest in England fairplay rankings without a European spot. If Spurs finish 6th, it will be them not because of the league ranking but because they are high up in the fairplay rankings. If they finish 5th they qualify for Europe through league placing and the fairplay spot falls to Fulham or Blackpool (most likely).

The title of this article is misleading.

You are right. I reacted quickly to what the report was on sky sports news. Your reply is pretty much what the article should be but I can't change the title :-(

where is the fair play table?

I looked at on on espn and on the premierleague website and both showed Fulham and Blackpool being above us.

    Cheers

To clarify, the fairplay league is judged on more than just yellow and red cards. It has a number of categories:

Red & Yellow cards: Maximum 10 pts per match (3 points for a red, 1 for a yellow)
Positive play: Maximum 10 pts per match
Respect towards opponent: Maximum 7 pts per match
Respect towards referee: Maximum 7 pts per match
Behaviour of officials: Maximum 6 pts per match

So the final rankings here are dependent on how the FA awards points in the other categories.

So how many teams from England get into the league? Talk about confused. And yes Edinspur,2-0 to us. If we can beat Liverpool we can do the Brummies.
