Not only that, but the top Olympics searches were about the opening/closing pantomine shows, not the hop-skip-jump contests. Confirms my belief that the top sports event in the universe are World Cup, Euros, Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, ...., Algerian Football League Division III title race .... etc.

That said, my interest in the overpaid antics of football has decreased since seeing the dedication and years of training that elite athletes put themselves through to compete at the highest level once every four years. A lot of top flight footballers, and fans come to that, don't give a **** about he World Cup or the euros.
