    Chelsea were said to be preparing a new bid for Spurs midfielder/playmaker Luka Modric in light of the revelations that Essien's third cruciate knee injury may be his last.

    Rumour has it that Luka has a verbal agreement with Levy that would see him go should a suitable offer be received.
