Essien is a quality player but surely Ramieres can do the job?? I personally saw our first choice midfield next year being Lampard, 1 from Essien/Ramieres/Mikel and a new player (modric??). With Benayoun, Josh, Malouda and maybe even David Luiz being able to fill in for injuries etc, do we really need to actually cover Essien's injury?? I wouldn't say no to Parker though if he was going to come and play the holding role. Brilliant player who never got a chance last time because of the legend that is Maka being first choice.
I'd prefer Parker to Mikel but yes Ramires and Luiz can play that position very well. It's the creative player we crave and I think Josh can fill that role at some point but we also need someone established that Josh can deputize for.
What we need is a report from AVB on how pre season is looking early doors Expect levy to cave on Modric & him to be in blue before long..
