In the shadow of the Juan Mata debacle, no one seems to have noticed that we have said farewell to one of our top servants and a fan favourite under Jose for many years. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/25885925 Essien is heading to Italy to play for AC Milan. I for one am sad to see him leave but it was his time after being plagued by that horrid knee injury that was made so much worse by the club doctors of the Ghana national team. Yes I am going to blame the decline of his form and ability on the national club doctors for rushing him back to be fit for ACON, in which he sustained yet another horrible injury, which kept him out for us for another 6 months. I wish him all the best and hope that he can do even half of what he did for us at Milan. Thanks Michael, you will be missed and good luck in the future! KTBFFH!
I noticed, he was a club legend and hope he does well at Milan.
I think that is probably one of the best goals I have ever seen from any Chelsea player. I remember being in a bar at uni full of Arsenal fans with my mate. We were the only two Chelsea fans and when he hit that we went bananas and the Arsenal fans all went very, very quite. Exceptional player and exceptionally sad to see him go.
Another sign that Jose is clearing out the old to build for the future. JT is going to be next to go as he wants a 3 year deal and Chelsea will only give him one year at a time.
Great player and sad that injury took such a toll on him. I always got the impression too that he had one of those African birth certificates that had a smudge on the year of birth!!!!! Thanks Bison, enjoy Milan.
I remember booting a pint glass across my mates living room in sheer joy when this happened. Hope he finds some form again at Milan, special player.
Michael Essien ,before injury, was one of our best ever players. More importantly, he was, Like Zola, a complete professional, a totally loyal Club man and an absolute gentleman. Enjoy Italy Bison, and thanks for everything.
Best of luck to Michael. An awesome player before the injuries. A real Mourinho player...great engine, tough tackler and massive will to win. Says it all that a giant club like Milan will bring him in even though he is nowhere near the player he was.
Great player, certainly up there with Lamps and Scholes as the best ever premier league midfielder. Torn on his best goal. The Barca volley or the screamer v Arsenal ??!?!?
