Great news, hope whoever comes in plays him as a first choice centre back, so happy we found someone like him, he could have never played for the club if we were not to have injury problems and if he did not play last season I think he would have been released.
I did not think that we would find a centre back like him last season but I was wrong, he turned out to be one of the best defenders we have at the club, or maybe the best one at the club.
Hope people like Evans, Miller and Davies get a bit more game time though.

This is excellent news. - I am grateful to Simon King, as I am sure he has had a big influence on the cultured style of play that Essam has shown.

Yeah he is that same type of player, hope he turns out to have the ability or King, I believe he can or be even better, have to say, King would have been even better and would have got even better if it was not for the injuries and may have been at a Championship club by now, somewhere where Essam will be in the future, happy it is a 3 year contract though as it will give him time to develop, hope that clubs don't keep an eye on him, he is staying at Gillingham for his career hopefully, doubt so but he will be here for a while.

Hoadie - I still say that we were too hasty to get rid of King. I believe that King showed enough on his return from injury to show that he is too good for L2. His pairing with Essam stopped our 5 league defeats in a row last season. ( we had a poor last 10 games after King was dropped .) I expect that Essam will continue to attract attention - so it was important to get him on a long contract - to up the price when he goes.

Yeah I know I think it was stupid to get rid of him, I hope he does come back when a new manager is installed at the club and earns himself a contract.
