http://www.espnfc.co.uk/barclays-pr...eague-reasons-behind-southampton-prem-success Good article on us. The title should read how on earth are the other teams keeping up to Saints Like one line: Teams should beware managers or players who think they are doing you a favour. There's truth in that.
Their next three matches are Crystal Palace, Swansea and QPR, all games that ought to be within the capability of Koeman's group. If they can manage three wins in those, United, Arsenal and Liverpool will be struggling to even keep pace as the season reaches its climax. Lifted the above from the article just because I liked it though our next 3 are actually Swansea, QPR and Liverpool it may still apply.
"Koeman uses the word "philosophy" himself but he shapes his team around the players available. They are asked to be adaptable but there is little squeezing of square pegs into round holes". I don't think this is strictly true. We don't shape the team around the players available. Instead, we know how we want to play and buy the players who can fit the system. That is why, even with key players missing we can win away at Newcastle, playing in the same way as we have done all year.
Koeman adapts the system according to the players when we have several players missing, so I wouldn't call it a square peg/round hole situation either.
