Transfer news: Erik Andersson ready to snub Newcastle

St James' Park: Erik Andersson took in a trial with Newcastle but will not be returning

Landskrona starlet Erik Andersson is ready to snub interest from Newcastle and Juventus in favour of staying in Sweden.

The 15-year-old has recently taken in trials in England and Italy, with his potential drawing plenty of admiring glances.

Andersson is, however, aware that moving on at this stage may do more harm than good.

He feels that sticking with Landskrona will allow him to keep working on his game and build towards a high-profile switch in the future.

"I have had a very good season," Andersson told Fotbollsdirekt.se. "I believe I will progress more if I stay at home."

On his spells at Newcastle and Juve, the youngster added: "They (Newcastle) didn't talk to me, it was a bit strange.

"It was much more fun at Juventus, with better football and nicer players."

cant blame the lad really, much nicer class of people south of the Tyne........<laugh>

Yeah Juventus are a fair bit better than Newcastle. Fair bit better than us too.

He'd sooner catch the clap than come to the North East by the sounds of it.

Sound like a sensible kid prepared to stay in Sweden and develop his game rather than jump ship for the bright lights.
