http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/formula_one/14684084.stm This is bad news bears for Ricciardo as he could have some very strong competition for a Red Bull seat with Eric-Vergne. However, drivers that look strong in the junior formulas aren't necessarily good when it comes to F1, so we shall see. He is only getting practice runs at the moment after WSBR finishes not far from now. Ricciardo, I think will almost certainly get a seat with Toro Rosso next year (JA got a seat there so DR should) Does that mean Red Bull will do with Eric-Vergne what they did with him? Will they transfer him to a team that can't do anything right and make him look not as strong he could be? P.S. I apologise for any bias for one driver that come through on my part
Interesting development, although I'd start go get worried if Red Bull start trying to force too many drivers into the grid, especially at the back where drivers like Alonso got their break. Red Bull currently have 'control' over 5 drivers on the grid, and continuing this trend would become dangerous, as they'd begin to reduce the amount of talent available to Ferrari, Mclaren, and any other team trying to challenge them. If Red Bull have their drivers at most of the backmarker teams, then Mclaren et al won't have a chance of signing them. Whilst Ferrari have a similar thing with Perez (I think) Red Bull are looking to do it on a much larger scale, which is worrying.
Like you, I am sure that Ricciardo will be in a Torro Rosso next year. The fact that he is driving for HRT shows us that a bit of money can gain you influence over the smaller team. In theory Marko do that again for other drivers. I think the chances of Marko paying HRT again will depend on Eric-Vergne's performance in the Torro Rosso. We saw Ricciardo impress Marko in the young driver sessions and Friday drives. Unless Eric does something similar, I doubt Marko will put him in a HRT. Just out of curiousity, what time is Spa qualifying in Australia?
Haha, here's what an F1 weekend looks like for Australia: FP1- Friday,6pm FP2- Friday,9pm FP3- Saturday,7pm Quali- Saturday,10pm Race- Sunday,10pm There aren't many races that really suit our time zone (with the exception of all these new races being introduced in Asia). Ah well, it can't be helped
watching a race at 10 isnt that bad. It will be done at midnight. Waking up at 3PM on the other hand! especially when still intoxicated?
Lol, if we're talking about nightmarish race times, what about the night of the Canadian GP? Watched a few hours of MotoGP 'till 12am, then Le Mans until 3am, when the GP started and didn't finish until 7am. No sleep at all but totally worth it for so much motoring action. Our Aussie presenters (they do the intro to all the motoring events, but we still get international commentary like Brundle and DC) were completely knackered.
