Newcastle have upped their bid for Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis to almost £7million.

The Toon also want long-time target Loic Remy on a *season’s loan from QPR.

New director of football Joe Kinnear has been charged with the task of landing two attackers.

A £5m-plus offer for *Gomis was rejected by Lyon, who want £8.5m rising to £10m with add-ons.

But the Magpies hope to reach a *compromise for a player who only has a year left on his contract.

Gomis, 27, moved closer to an exit when he failed to show up for a meeting with Lyon this week.

Remy, 26, turned down a move to Newcastle in *January when he switched to Loftus Road from *Marseille in an £8m deal.

Meanwhile, Newcastle visit Blackpool on Sunday, where Papiss Cisse, having settled his Wonga-branded Toon kit row, is set to make his first appearance of pre-season.

* NEWCASTLE, along with Swansea and Stoke, are also looking at Rennes striker Mevlut Erding.

The 26-year-old Turkey international scored 13 league goals for the French club last season

I am absolutely fed up with the number of names we are being linked with. It seems to me the policy is put everyone's name in the hat and on a daily basis pull one out just to whet the fan's appetite, then put it back again and say we tried.
I fear we won't bring anyone in as Pardew is saying things like Gosling looked great, Shola looking sharp, Williamson has a great future at Newcastle. This to me does not bode well for the future.

 

Its really not a transfer window without us being linked to Erdinc is it???
