Ok, this is working upon the presumption the Erding agrees terms as well as PSG accepting the offer, but there remains a simple question. Where would he fit in if we where to play the often quoted 4-5-1 system ? Bearing in mind Pardrew has already been quoted as Ben Arfa to play in the "Number 10" role. I presume Ba won't be happy sitting on the bench, nor Erding so I am guessing Pardrew is planning . Arfa - - Erding Ba With this planned front three of our Attack. This would of course lead to a three man midfield of Cabayre - Tiote - ?# ?# â Would probably be best filled by Barton, but I enjoy teams with wingers and so would be tempted with Marveaux (he also probably signed on the basis of him starting). Anyways just wanted your guys thoughts on what would be the likely outcome of this âbrain-teaserâ.
Its very much a squad game these days and all games will probably be looked at on an individual basis!!! At this stage it is very hard to tell what Pardew is thinking......just keep the signings coming (and the outgoings to a minimum)
Carr said the other week he was scouting for players to play in a 4-4-2. There's been a lot of talk of 'flexibility' between positions, so we could more likely play 4-5-1/4-3-3 against certain teams, which is good as we were far too rigid last season.
From Ba's interview he didn't exactly sound like he was going to be playing every game and the team be reliant on him. Either way, it would be nice to have a team that could play more than one formaiton comfortably. There'll be times where we're gonna need a more cautious approach than the 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 one thats been thrown around. Personally, i'd prefer to have Ben Arfa on one of the wings and Marveaux or Gutierrez on the other one with someone with a bit of pace, decent first touch/control and finishing in the centre. Similar to Chelski when they had Robben and a lot of Lille last season. I can see Erdinc and Ba getting an equal amount of games next season though, since im assuming they'll be restin Ba whenever they can afford too to keep his wobbly knee '100%'.
its seems so long ago now i cant remember where ben arfa played at the start of the season - was it LM or just behind the front 2 - anyway a lot will depend on him this season i (hope) think as to the formation we play
For us he was played LM because he took over from Gutierrez. Thats when Gutierrez decided to pull his socks up for a few games. Ben Arfa always drifts into the centre though either way. Think he played RW most of the time I seen him for Marseille and Lyon and cut in onto his left.
