Some Toon fans are commenting as to why we're pursuing Erdinc, when he's clearly not chuffed about being shoved down the pecking order by PSG, and he's not exactly beating a path to Newcastle. I suppose he's PSG's equivalent to Leon Best. Ha Ha

But in this age of chasing "talent" , should we really be surprised?

Crazy prices are being paid for pretty unproven talent ( and aside from say Whickham, I'd put Carroll in that boat).

We should be lucky that our local hero Mr Carr has been a busy bee and seems to have landed young players who play attractive football. Not everyone is motivated in the same way. For some it's all about the money, others it's about first team football.

If we can land Erdinc, I think he will be an asset , and I'm not too fussed if he doesn't come out with the usual " I love the Toon" mantra.

Score the goals son , and you will have 52,000 new friends.

Fair point like. I tend to look past all the badge kissers and "love this club" bullshit because money talks. If Erdinc comes here because he fancies a pitting his wits in the Prem and because he feels pushed out of PSG then so be it, so long as he's professional about it.

Have to agree, I love Ben Arfa for example but it's never been his dream to play for Newcastle.

He showed how much he wanted to play for us in the friendly at Darlington though. Ran his socks off.

Exactly, that's all I ask from a player, none of this pretending its been your dream to play for us.

Aye, this. Same goes for Cabaye, Marveaux et al. They may be 'excited' at the prospect of playing here, but everyone's gonna say that. Sure, it's always good getting in a player who dreams of playing for the club, but that just ain't gonna happen.. unless they're a local lad - and look what happened to the last one

As for Erdinc, I was never too fussed about him. It was just after being rejected by Gameiro so I was a bit downbeat about that I suppose - Erdinc just seemed like a 2nd rate version - but I've grown to like him a bit more and would like him here... but I guess that's just a result of now wanting to wait for a striker for much longer and wanting one in now!!

It saddens me that Mario Gomez is keeping us waiting <wah>
