EPL: Taiwo to Cost QPR N1bn 11 Feb 2012 Views: 94 Font Size: a / A Taye Taiwo (R) tussles with an Aston Villa player Super Eagles overlapping defender Taye Taiwo could well cost in the region of £4 million (about N1 billion), if new Queens Park Rangers (QPR) manager Mark Hughes wants to keep the player beyond the end of this season. The Nigerian has revealed that are keen to sign him permanently after his loan spell ends, reports kickoffnigeria.com. Taiwo joined QPR on loan during the January transfer window after enduring a frustrating spell at AC Milan in which he struggled to get any game time. Having spent five years at Marseille, Taiwo comes with a lot of European experience and is sure to boost the Hoops' hopes of avoiding relegation. The 26-year-old has turned out just twice for Mark Hughes' side but according to the player, the club are already interested in making him a permanent fixture at Loftus Road. "The fans didn't believe in me in Italy but I'm happy here and QPR want to sign me on a permanent basis," he said.
He looks a bit dodgy and hes not got any pace...Oh yeh and has anyone noticed how he doesnt jump for a header??...not convinced yet
I'm surprised at your views. It's unlike QPR fans to write a player off after a couple of dodgy performances...
I thought he was better in the Wolves game, we won't be buying him if he repeats his Villa performance...
I thought there were climpses of what he can do in the wolves game, some great through balls early on, he needs a few games, hopefully after a few weeks training we will start seeing the best of him from today
Why are QPR fans so ready to slate players when they join us? No wonder a lot of them struggle to fit in.
We really dont have enough time to be giving people a chance....although i hope he does come good..sooner reather than later
He's a proven international and has played in the champions league. I'm unsure why people on here seem to be writing him off after his first two games in English football.
Well, I think that's cos he hasn't looked like a proven international or champions league player. I think he'll come good, but it is a mystery why he doesn't jump for headers....bit strange that!!
Let's be honest, he has been VERY poor so far. He has failed to do the basics well.... like tackling, closing down players, stopping crosses and heading the ball. Very disappointed so far, I would hold back on buying him until the end of the loan. He could turn out to be a lemon... there may be a reason why the Italian fans didn't believe in him.... maybe he was playing as bad over there too.
Overreactions on here for me, I certainly don't think he's looked very poor! I think he's done OK and should get better. From what I saw of him taking Robben out of the game in the Champions League earlier this season he's certainly got the ability to do so.
Does no one else feel that he's shown good ability? I have. I think he looks like a player of high professionalism and quality. He just needs to get his head around the game at QPR and be confident as he's a bit of a fish out of water currently. He will come good though and he's already been doing a decent job, in my opinion. He hasn't cost us a game and he's actually put in some good tackles and has had some good forward play.
Thread title says more about the poor value of the naira than it does about Taiwo. Substantially less than half pence! A billion of those for an unproven loanee is a bit previous if you ask me. Reminds me of Warnock's assurance that buying Routledge was a done deal after a few games last year... and WR was tried, tested and cheaper! Despite promotion, never happened did it, nor even looked like it? Complete non-story this imo.
