I understand the fixtures for 2011/2012 would be published anytime from June 14.
We are all eager to see who we are playing for the first game of the season.
For many seasons except last season Liverpool always played away first game of the
season. Last season we played our first game at home for many years.
I do not think it matters much, but winning your first game of the season can be
    helpful.

Couldn't agree more. Winning the first couple of games of the season will install a lot of confidence and belief into the squad which will help us throughout the season. Hopefully we don't get one of the so called 'Bigger teams' for our first game. I also don't want any of the promoted teams for our first game as well because it could become a difficult game. <ok>

yeah but our first 5-6 games last season were an awful run, I think that the opening to our fixtures last year were a bigger cause to our awful start then the quality of managing/coaching/tactics that hodgson was providing and due to those fixtures it neg'd the team and was in some respect one of the nails in Hodgsns coffin

Had Hodgson had an easier start would we have started brighter and kept Hodgson for the season? we don't know but I bet West Brom fans are now happy that we didn't

Its even money that Man United and Everton will both be playing at home, and Liverpool will be playing away for the 11th time in 12 seasons.
