Ephraim targeting return to QPR Hogan Ephraim hopes his performances for Charlton can convince Neil Warnock to give him another chance at QPR. The 23-year-old â an important player in Rangersâ promotion campaign â says he was initially led to believe he would be in Râs boss Warnockâs 25-man Premier League squad and was âshockedâ after being told he hadnât made the cut. He joined Charlton on loan last week and will stay at The Valley until at least January â when Warnock will re-submit his squad for the second half of the season. âI need to be playing regular football now, scoring and setting up goals.â Ephraim said: âIâd love to get back in the squad. I have been there for four years and QPR is the club that changed me from a boy to a man. âI loved last season â it was the highlight of my career. The fans were magnificent and unbelievable to play in front of, and the squad are the best set of lads you could ask for. âI think I should have been in the 25-man squad. I trained with the boys day in and day out, and I couldnât accept anyone telling me I wasnât good enought to be in that 25. âIt was very tough, especially since it was only a couple of days before the transfer window shut that I was told I was in it. So to be told that, then two or three days later to be told youâre not it, was a massive shock.â The former West Ham trainee added: âI have great respect for Neil Warnock and Iâm sure he has great respect for me. âHe had a decision to make and he made it. We have different opinions on it but it was up to him. If I play well maybe he will change his mind.â Ephraim made his Charlton debut as a second-half substitute during their 1-0 win at Brentford on Saturday. Warnock left out Ephraim after being told Jamie Mackie was close to returning It was a welcome return to first-team action after almost three months in QPRâs reserves, and Addicks boss Chris Powell has hinted that he would be interested in keeping him if given the chance. âIt was good to get some minutes under my belt,â Ephraim said. âYou just want to be in front of fans playing football instead of reserve-team football on the Harlington training ground in front of two or three people. âI need to be playing regular football now, scoring and setting up goals and thatâs what I aim to do at Charlton, and after that we will see what happens. âI need a manager to have faith in me and let me play my game and hopefully Chris Powell will do that.â Follow West London Sport on Twitter. iReader
Have to say fair play to him and good luck , get some game time and try to force his way back in . I also am not convinced by Puncheon.
He has a great attitude....Others have raised their game so he can too... A rare mistake by Warnock imo..
Not a fan of players who have subtle digs at their former managers. It's bleedin obvious what he thinks of NW. Can't see a road back form him tbh. Come Jan, even our reserve team won't need him.
whoever we sign in jan will go straight into the 25 so that'll push him further down the pecking order. I fear it's the end for him at QPR. he won't be the only 1 left out either.
I'm not convinced by Puncheon either, but nor am I unconvinced. We've hardly seen him play! Yes, he's supposed to be a bit of a s**t, but he did well in the Prem last season. Writing him off already is like the Charlton fans writing Hogan off after seeing 20 minutes of him as a sub. It could however turn out that neither of them get in to the 25 in Jan.
How Buzsaky got in ahead of him is anyone's guess. Maybe because he took a good free 3 or 4 years ago? Ephraim should be head and shoulders above the rest in that shi*ty Lge 1. He'll be back.
Out of NW's squad, I can see Dyer, Perone, Hulse, Puncheon being replaced and I hope Hogan can get a place in the 25 man squad. If Adel leaves, then that frees up another space for another player. Hogan just needs some playing time to get him match fit and hopefully his confidence up. If Puncheon was as good as I was led to believe he should have managed to get himself in starting 11. This Jan will be very interesting
Having said all that I was impressed with the little I saw of Andrade when he can on at Wigan. Would like to see him get his chance in an FA Cup round
Doesn't automatically qualify as an additional part of the squad as he is under 21 or have I got that wrong?
Sorry guys i have never really rated Hogan to inconsistant not really a premiership player i hope he proves me wrong but i doubt it.
