Brain surgery to remove a brain tumour. He will recover but it’s a long road so get well soon. I always liked him as a player! Still remember THAT goal where you could see all the players loved it that he scored. Swinging his shirt around with his nice six pack gliding through the air like a Spanish bull!
One of my two favourite Enrique memories. It almost seems like the wrong time to mention that the other is of him keeping goal for Liverpool. if anyone knows/can find on Google an address for him, he might appreciate a bit of Geordie encouragement
The era of Enrique, Guterriez and Coloccini almost seems like something of a golden era now, rare examples of players playing the best football of their career at Newcastle. Get well soon, shame he never really fulfilled his potential and had to retire at 32....we'll always remember him in goal at Liverpool and "Jose Enrique who's in the top 6", but he was always solid and dependable for us.
