Talksport reported this morning that all 3 have said they are going to let their contracts run down and leave for free.

    hmm.

There's something going on behind the scenes that's not quite right...

Didn't they all say they were going to wait until the club showed it's intent in the transfer market? Is it TOO sceptical to think that all this Cabaye, Gervinho, Gameiro chat is all a plan to get them to sign contracts!?

Plus there was Barton's post on Twitter about the Cabaye signing, which suggested sarcasm.

Just can't trust the 2 wideboys in charge, still.

How did Barton tweet hint at sarcasm. He clearly wanted the club to sign quality players and he would consider a contract.

    Also its talkshite, thats all

Talksport are always trying to be contentious so that people will call in and generate them added revenue.

I never trust what they 'report'.

Is it not true that Nolan hasnt rejected a contract and merely just been asked to wait till next summer?

I had heard that these three were going to become opera singers together to replace Domingo/Pavarotti/Carreras who have left a space in the singing department by joining FIFA... and dropping dead...<whistle>

Even if this is the case. It means we will have them all for next season. Qualify for Europe and they all reconsider and sign up.

"Cabaye = happy days.........keep spending. Teams win trophies not individuals tweeps"

Doesn't sound exactly happy with our 'new' signing, does he? Even if you were scared it may affect your place or whatever, you wouldn't belittle him in public

Am I missing something here? "Happy days" would imply he is happy with the signing. "Teams win trophies..." is him saying we need a bigger squad to challenge for silverware.

It's upsetting to hear that our 3 best players are willing to run their contract up and f*ck off on a free.

Yes that will hurt the fat man, but in turn, it will hurt the club and the fans.

If they are willing to do that then they can f*ck off.

We need players who want to play and want to remain at the club. Even if they all greatly contributed to us coming back up and having a successfull returning season in the top flight.

Whats the "team spirit" going to be like now three of our biggest players are showing contempt for the club and it's owners?

I just worry that MA accepted bids for all three as a result of this and if he doesn't, we'll suffer in the long run.

Completely agree with you. Some of the stuff people write on here is complete bollocks.

And I think he'd have admitted this season's team wasn't going to contend for trophies? Unless he's implying they should be adding rather than replacing -- feeling like that's what they're doing behind the scenes?

Regardless, he shouldn't be tweeting things like that which can be misconstrued.

He was clearly responding to what people were telling/asking him, hence the tweeps bit at the end. I think most people would have been saying 'great we've got Cabaye' etc, and I think he's sort of telling them off for forgetting it, as in "it doesn't matter if we have Cabaye (he's an individual) what we need is a team (Me, Nolan, Smith etc.)"

I'd rather we had Jose and Barton for another year, and Nolan for another two, and get no money, than lose them all now and get £15 or so million.

not sure I follow your logic.

Threee of ourplayers say they want to play out their contracts rather than be sold now. Isn't that showing commitment to the team and the fans, even if it might mean the club misses out on a transfer fee ?

I think Joey meant he is happy we've signed Cabaye but need to sign more players if we want to win something. Don't think he's annoyed in any way.

That's the problem with social media, text is very subjective and open to interpretation as you've got no body language, tone of voice etc to back it up. Me, I think he's pleased.

Do people really interpret Joey Barton's tweet as being happy? Does nobody see the underlying sniping in there? Really?

We'll just see how it all pans out then.

Anyone expecting to see Gervinho, Gameiro or any other tasty big names at St James' next season is incredibly naive.

If they are willing to let the contracts run, just see what happens if we make the signings we are linked to. Might make them think twice about rejecting their respective offers on the table??????????
